Jhon: I’ve been thinking about what would happen if we eliminated the heads of organized crime.
Intuitively, it seems like a good thing, but the natural order of things would just bring in even worse leaders, turning Brazil into another Mexico.
I’ve concluded they’re a necessary evil: I’d rather have a "Good-Bad Guy" who thinks he's king, protects the community, and punishes anyone who breaks his rules, than a government that lets criminals out in less than eight years.
Plus, the police often bring more danger, especially for women.
The general public is too weak to care about the common good; they only focus on trivial things.
It’s just a hypothesis, but I see crime as a necessary evil.
William: Yikes!
If we had the death penalty, organized crime bosses wouldn't be running things from inside prison.
Mexico doesn't have the death penalty, so there’s no way we’d turn into them.
And I don’t get why eliminating a cartel leader would definitely bring someone worse to power, that defies all logic. 😉
About the police being more dangerous to women than regular thugs...
I don’t even know what to say.
Do you have any actual data on that?
Or do you just see newspaper headlines whenever a cop assaults his partner?
Is there any data from women's shelters or precincts showing that police officers are more aggressive with their partners than other professionals?
Are cops out there mugging women on the street!?
You see crime as a necessary evil?!
I see crime as an evil to be fought.
The vast majority of people get by just fine without committing crimes, and they’d live much better if crime didn't exist.
Saying that is like saying cancer is a necessary evil!
Note: I’ve read a lot of absurd theories, but this one is going to stick with me.
It’s the kind of absurd hypothesis that, when read superficially like most people do, actually convinces a lot of folks.
The "Good Bandit" theory.
The "good cancer", even if it's a highly curable type, you’d have to be an absolute idiot to think the disease is a necessary evil.
